PORT OF CEUTA BRINGS SECOND BUNKER BARGE INTO SERVICE.

27/02/2020

The Spabunker Sixty, operated by Cepsa, is expected to meet demand from 40-50 more vessels each month.

The Spabunker Sixty, constructed at the Unión Valencia Naval Shipyard, entered service in 2008 and is a double-hulled barge with a capacity for 2,300 metric tonnes (mt) of fuel oil and 700 mt of marine diesel oil (MDO). The vessel joins the Spabunker Forty which currently operates at Ceuta.

Bunker volumes at the port totalled 772,000 mt in 2019, a 5% increase over the previous year.

As previously reported, the Port of Ceuta began the supply of very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) last November. Some 34,500 metric tonnes (mt) of the product was delivered on 1 November. Vilma Oil was responsible for unloading the fuel from the Swedish vessel Ridgebury Colette B.
