The works have consisted in the remodeling of the Maritime Station adapting it to current and foreseeable demands in the immediate future.

Work completed in July 2001, being executed as the most important units: the expansion of the Terminal by 1,250 m2, leaving the total area in service of 5,000 m2; having installed air conditioning throughout the building, fire-fighting equipment, lifts, escalators, exterior façade based on limestone and curtain wall, stoneware flooring and staircase for disabled access, installation of 220 m. of baggage conveyor belt in the pedestrian access galleries to berth No. 3 on the boarding esplanade, five access lanes have been built with a rear pre-boarding area with capacity for 2000 vehicles, where it is located 425 m2 in length to house the heavy vehicles, construction of 3 buildings, total surfaces of 1,560 m2.

The total cost of the operation amounted to the amount of € 4,797,058.98
