Guidelines on Good Environmental Practices

The Royal Legislative Decree 2/2011, of 5th September, by means of which the revised text of the Law of Ports of the State and Merchant Shipping was approved covers a key issue with regard to the economic-financial system, with the aim of incentivising good environmental practices. In order to adopt article 245.1, an agreement with the Port Authority must be signed, having complied with the content of “Guía de buenasprácticasambientales de Puertos del Estado” (Ports of the State Guidelines on Good Environmental Practices), which can be downloaded. Furthermore, Ports must be registered in the European Commission EMAS register or possess an environmental management system based on the UNE-EN-ISO-14.001 standard certified by a body accredited by ENAC (Spanish National Accreditation Body).

The variety of industrial, logistical, administrative and shipping activities that take place within the port area also need to incorporate good practices to ensure respect for the environment and safety. To this end, the Port Authority has produced its own guidelines and a series of guidelines in collaboration with the city.
