The Extension of the Port of Ceuta
The works consisted of building two docks that protect a future embankment in order to create an esplanade measuring 15.2 hectares. The first begins atDique de Ponienteand is 251m long. The second closes off the area and is 648m long.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS INCLUDED IN THE ERDF OPERATING PROGRAM 2007-2013
Demolition work and underground pipe laying at the beginning of Dique de Poniente
The works consist of building a rectangular underground passageway using reinforced concrete for oilpipes that currently run along the barrier of Dique de Poniente. The works were completed after the barrier measuring 405m in the first section of Dique de Poniente was demolished.
• The total cost of the operation amounted to€2,018,611.96.
• The total amount spent by 31st December 2009 was €2,018,611.96.
The works began on 20th December 2005 and were completed on 16th February 2008, thereby taking 26 months to complete.

The operative indicators for these works were: The running metres of oil pipes installed and the running metres of water pipes installed, which on the completion date were4111m and 415m respectively. This amounts to a total of 4526 meters of piping installed.

The strengtheningand improvement of Dique de Poniente and Dique de Levante.
The works consisted of the partial repair of the damaged infrastructures and more specifically: 1) Longitudinal cracks in the road adjacent to Dique de Poniente; 2) The foundations of the warehouses located on the third section of the afore-mentioned dock; 3) Damage to the barrier’s protective fencing and the repositioning of the top of the Poniente and Levante pier heads.
• The total cost of the operation amounted to €2,817,654.99.
• The total amount spent by 31stDecember 2009 was €2,817,654.99.
The works began on 29th September 2006 and were completed on 29th November 2007, thereby taking 14 months to complete
The operative indicators for these works were: The square metres of surface repaired. Following completion the total number of square metres repaired was 2470m2.

The strengthening and improvement of the marina
The works consisted of reconstructing the main breakwater layer of the dock in the marina using 3-tonne rocks, adapting the existing bank (1H:1V) to measure 1.5H:1V, to a height above sea level of +3.20 above MLWS. The construction of a wave-breaker on top of the main protective layer which would measure 180 metres from the start to the end of the dock was also planned. The works included the construction of piers and walkways to replace those which were damaged by a storm and the reparation of the broken plumbing system and electrical circuits.
• The total cost of the operation amounted to€745,895.31.
• The total amount spent by 31st December 2009 was €745,895.13.
The works began on 22nd July 2008 and were completed on 22nd December 2009, thereby taking 17 months to complete
The operative indicators selected for these works were: The tonnes of rock used and the running metres of the repaired pier. Following completion it was calculated that 9123 tonnes of rockwere used and the pier measured 257 metres.

Establishing the Land Transport Inspection Centre (PATT)
These works consisted of “Establishing a Land Transport Inspection Centre” and “Preparing the underground car park for the PATT”.
A) Works to “Establish a Land and Transport Inspection Centre”.
Development of the esplanade “Port of Ceuta Extension. Initial Stage”
The total amount approved for this project in the Investment Plan for 2009-2012 was 6.67 millionEuros, of which €169,855was approved for use in 2009. During this period technical assistance for monitoring and controlling the entry of demolition materials for use as rock fill at the top end of the embankment which would form the future esplanade of the port extension was provided. Assistance was also required with the drafting of the project on the development of the esplanade of the Port of Ceuta extension (initial stage). The assistance in both cases was approved at a cost of €169,855.00.
• Budget: €6,670,000.00
